With a staff of 300, BlumShapiro is New England’s largest regional accounting, tax and business consulting firm based in Connecticut with offices in West Hartford, Shelton, Westport and Waterbury.
We're large enough to give you the resources you need to achieve excellence but small enough to ensure the kind of work environment that encourages interaction among people at all levels of the organization.
Ethics and Integrity
BlumShapiro is dedicated to the highest standards of ethics and integrity. As required by our profession's quality control and oversight program, BlumShapiro has successfully completed eight quality reviews performed by independent CPA firms.
International Scope
The firm extends its reach and gains additional resources through an affiliation with Baker Tilly International, a global network of regional accounting and consulting firms with the common professional philosophy of providing the resources of a national firm with the attention of a small firm. Partners and staff members from BlumShapiro meet periodically with colleagues from these firms to exchange ideas and discuss trends and opportunities. And, when we require resources outside of our expertise or geographic reach, we can call upon a fellow Baker Tilly firm to assist us.

Ongoing Staff Training
Continued training will enhance your professional development. Specifically, staff training will give you experience in conducting an entire engagement, from planning through fieldwork, preparation of the financials, and the post-engagement review. You will have the opportunity to select other in-house and external professional courses covering accounting and auditing principles, current tax laws, marketing opportunities, specialty practice areas and computer applications.
Support for Advancement
Our goal is to give you the tools and the feedback that will contribute to your success. At BlumShapiro, you will have an advisor – a manager or supervisor who is available to provide career guidance and offer periodic feedback on your performance.
After most engagements, you will receive an evaluation by the accountant in charge, giving you valuable counsel on your performance. Then twice a year, you will receive a full review, with promotions and raises awarded annually on the basis of merit and achievement.
Work/Life Balance
Management recognizes that employees have lives outside of the office. Flexibility will allow you to fulfill your personal goals and meet family and community responsibilities.
In addition, part-time and temporary employment opportunities enable experienced professionals to remain current in their skills and knowledge while pursuing other interests and professional development.
The firm encourages our employees to become involved in community and professional activities. Our employees serve on the boards of community and charitable organizations, and some are active in local Chambers of Commerce and professional organizations.
