Who We Are
Community Involvement
BlumShapiro has long been an active citizen in our community. Our firm is a proud contributor to and sponsor of many Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island charitable, arts and civic organizations.
Partners and staff donate time serving as board members and in top leadership roles in over 160 organizations including the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut, American Red Cross, World Affairs Council, Greater Hartford Arts Council, the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, University of Massachusetts, Connecticut Public Broadcasting, Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity, The Thomas Merton Center, Family Services Woodfield, Connecticut Burns Foundation, University of Rhode Island Foundation and the March of Dimes, Rhode Island Chapter.
As a firm, we conduct annual employee fund drives for the United Way and the Greater Hartford Arts Council. These efforts have generated nearly $75,000 in the past two years alone. Other activities we have engaged in include volunteer days for Junior Achievement and Habitat for Humanity, participation in Big Brothers/Big Sisters during the school year and collections for holiday food and gift drives. Through the BlumShapiro Foundation, we donate approximately $100,000 to worthy organizations annually.
For three consecutive years, BlumShapiro has sponsored the 5k fundraising event at the Travelers Championship with financial support, event organization, race participation and recruitment of volunteers. The family oriented event includes a 5K race along the roads that line the fairways and greens of the TPC River Highlands, a Kids Fun Run and many activities for children of all ages. The race benefits local charities.
In 2012, BlumShapiro began a partnership with Christian Community Action (CCA) to provide Thanksgiving Day meals to more than 2,300 families and seniors in New Haven. The BlumShapiro Thanksgiving Food Basket Campaign for Christian Community Action is a community wide, hands-on program that collects non-perishable food items and financial contributions, as well as provide volunteers to help bag all donated items for distribution to families and seniors right before Thanksgiving Day.
